A Photographic Exploration of the Monobloc Chair: The Universality of the Simple For the past 20 years, I have been creating a photographic project dedicated to the white Monobloc chairs — a common, everyday object, yet full of significance. This project captures simple, unscripted street scenes, where the Monobloc chair appears as a subtle co-protagonist. My aim is to highlight the contrast between the perceived low value of the chair — a symbol of mass production and consumption — and its essential use as something necessary for all of us. At the same time, this chair acquires a special dimension as a symbol of design, revealing an underlying value in its design that redeems it and places it in a more refined cultural and aesthetic space. This project is my personal view on the stigma the chair carries in the world: an object that, despite its simplicity, has become both misunderstood and indispensable. Through my photographic approach, I aim to show how this everyday, seemingly insignificant chair is part of the global cultural fabric, with a unique ability to integrate into our lives in a timeless and universal way.
